DJ JAZZY JEFF AND MADD SKILLZ ON DISTORTION 2 STATIC
If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.
It’s not very often that we have anything to post about Technics but rumours abound about the 1210MK5G being discontinued. So being the dutiful DJ hack that I am, rather than post rumour, I got FACTS. Clarification came from Panasonic UK to squash rumours. And It’s not what you might think.
UPDATE: For those of you using this story as some sort of gospel to refute the current (Nov 29 2009) Technics is dead rumour - this piece was written nearly 3 YEARS AGO. And as it turns out, despite the official word from Panasonic UK, the MK5 is still in plentiful supply, thus casting some doubt on any Technics rumour to be honest. So stop quoting this over and over again.
So here goes - the 1200MK5 and 1210MK5 WILL be discontinued leaving the 1210MK5G as the top of the range and most definitely NOT discontinued. It never was a limited edition, just a flagship special edition model. And the 1200 and 1210 MK2 will continue as normal. So now there’s some distance between the MK2 and MK5G models instead having a middle MK5 deck to confuse matters. So it’s vanilla Technics or the more expensive piano black extra pitched blue light luxury model left in the range.
In this case, less choice is better. Now you can make a very clear decision about which Technics to buy. Well that’s my opinion anyway.(via Skratchworx.com)

DJ QUEST-
“Influenced by the hip-hop and electro styles of the early 80’s, DJ Quest has contributed to the DJ’s art form by bringing a more aggressive scratch tactic to the battle scene. Quest, featured in the Palm Pictures documentary SCRATCH, is a veteran of the DMC, New Music Seminar and countless other battles. Quest coined “Hamster Style,” a unique technique of reversing the set up of turntables into a mixer to facilitate new styles of scratching. Today the term and technique remain popular and are used by DJs worldwide. Quest is one of the founding members of Bullet Proof Scratch Hamsters/Space Travelerz.” -http://www.myspace.com/djquestosahn
THE MAKERS OF INNOFADERS-
“Deep in the mad scientist labs at Audio Innovate, Elliot Marx embarks on the quest for the ultimate fader. Combining a durable construction, zero maintenance technology, and options to fit into any mixer, the InnoFader could set the new standard for DJ faders.”

1. Chapstick

Sometimes I get dry lips…yea.
2. Visine

Djing late night combined with stuffy club atmosphere and alcohol usually leaves my eyes looking all crazed out and stoned by the end of the night. Not cool, especially when you haven’t smoked at all and you got a special lady there witchu or perhaps tryin to holler @. I always make sure to pack a bottle of any basic Visine/ClearEyes/whatever brand redness relief/moisturizer visine to help me look awake+fresh+more sober. Heck, I’ll sometimes pack a Visine even when I’m NOT Djing a night.
3. Hand Sanitizer

Ok, I can’t even begin to stress how important this last one is, (especially 4 all you Serato DJs rotating w/ the same records). Shaking hands mixed with touching knobs, faders, records, laptops, drinks, whatever else you touch in a club = YUCKO. This is something that should go in EVERY club-goers bag/purse/pockets 4real. Bathrooms don’t always have soap, you KNOW people are gross, this should be a no-brainer. I promise you, this is definitely worth the investment.
Yupperz.
